Dear friend,
Confessions are tough. Real tough. But, sometimes a confession can set the record straight, and I want to give credit where credit is due. Before I talk about my confession, though, let me say a few other things first.
Years ago something happened to me that changed my life forever. Let me tell you my story.
Back then I was a swim coach in Tulsa, OK, studying posture and athletic performance. Little did I know that a recurring injury would soon expand my knowledge of posture and introduce me to the rest of my life!
You see I hurt my back a few years earlier moving furniture. Being the tough athlete, I just suffered for a few weeks and it would finally clear up. But it came back periodically and usually with a vengeance. Lightening bolts would shoot through my hips and down I would go. There were times when I thought I simply would not get up again. Entire weekends spent in bed. The seemingly endless pain and stiffness made me irritable and cranky but most of all I began to get scared. What if I needed surgery? I really don’t like to take drugs, certainly not for long periods of time. But worst of all, what if my back didn’t get better? Finally and reluctantly, I gave in and went to a doctor.
Remember the girl in the picture? Well that’s me, Coach Alan, more than 10 years ago. She was always so hard on herself especially at big swim meets. Well her family convinced me to give their doctor a try. This new doctor did an exam, took some x-rays, and he ‘adjusted’ my spine. The adjustment didn’t hurt, it actually felt good. That doctor was a chiropractor! In a few, short visits the pain was gone. I was standing up straight. In fact, it worked so well for me, that I asked the doctor to help with the swim team. He ‘adjusted’ their spines and did some specialized stretching of their shoulders. The kids got faster and their heart rates came down. I was so impressed that I eventually went to chiropractic school myself.
It’s strange how life is, patients come to me now with their headaches, migraines, chronic pain, neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, whiplash from car accidents, backaches, ear infections, asthma, allergies, numbness in limbs, athletic injuries, just to name a few and they get well.
Here’s what some of my patients had to say:
“I have experienced graudual and continual improvement in my flexibility and mobility and a marked decrease of pain. My fibromyalgia symptoms are disappearing and my blood pressure is going down!” Beth S. (Myrtle Beach)
“I came in to get treatment from Dr. Alan when I had pain in my right hip. Boy he took care of that in two visits!” -Fran D. (Myrtle Beach)
“I twisted my ankle and decided to go see a chiropractor…what an awesome experience! I literally saw and felt the swelling and inflammation leave my foot.” – Jane Z. (Myrtle Beach)
Several times a day patients thank me for helping them with their health problems. But I can’t really take the credit. My confession is that I’ve never healed anyone of anything. What I do is perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure, and the body responds by healing itself. We get tremendous results. It’s as simple as that!
Perhaps we can help you, too!
